Injectables are a different business from tablets and syrups. Most of the volume goes to hospitals, nursing homes and clinics, not to the chemist counter. Rates are compared closely, payment comes late, and the product has to reach the buyer without a single broken vial. Partners who understand this do well with an injection franchise; those who treat them like an oral range often struggle.
The companies on this page offer injectable products under PCD terms. Go through their product lists, then read below before you commit.
Types of injectable products
- Dry powder vials: antibiotics such as ceftriaxone, cefoperazone with sulbactam, piperacillin with tazobactam and meropenem, plus pantoprazole. Reconstituted with water for injection before use. These are the biggest movers in most hospital ranges.
- Liquid vials and ampoules: painkillers, antiemetics like ondansetron, vitamins, steroids and many others. Glass ampoules are cheap but break easily; vials are sturdier.
- Prefilled syringes: ready to inject, with less handling and less wastage. Used for some anticoagulants and other specialty products, and priced higher.
A practical starter range covers the antibiotics, PPIs, painkillers and antiemetics that every nursing home uses daily, then adds specialty products once you have hospital accounts.
The hospital and nursing-home channel
Injectables are sold where they are given. Your customers are hospital pharmacies, nursing home owners, surgeons, physicians and sometimes the purchase department of a larger hospital. Decisions are made on the net rate, regular supply and trust in the brand, and many buyers compare three or four quotes for the same molecule.
This channel rewards relationships. A doctor who owns a nursing home will switch brands for a better rate, but will also stay loyal if you never leave him short of stock at night. Plan your MR visits around hospitals and OT schedules, not just OPD hours.
Why rates and credit matter more here
Hospitals and nursing homes rarely pay on delivery. Credit of thirty to ninety days is normal, and some larger institutions take longer. That means your money is stuck in the market, while the franchise company may want advance payment for each order.
Before you sign for an injection franchise, ask the company about:
The PTR and the lowest rate you can quote to hospitals while keeping a workable margin. Whether they give any credit period to you, or need advance payment. The minimum first order value and minimum quantity per product. Monopoly area, because two partners of the same company quoting in one hospital destroy each other's rates. Replacement of broken vials and ampoules found on delivery. Expiry return terms, since hospitals refuse short dated stock.
Work out your cash flow for at least three months, assuming you will be paid late. Many new partners underestimate how much working capital injectables need.
Storage, transport and quality checks
Injectables are made in sterile facilities, with aseptic filling for most dry powders and terminal sterilisation for many liquids. You cannot check sterility yourself, so rely on the company's documents: ask for the COA of each batch you receive and keep it on file. Hospitals often ask for it.
Most injections are stored at room temperature, away from heat and light. Products that need 2-8 °C storage require a cold chain from the plant to the patient, including a working pharmaceutical refrigerator at your end and insulated packing for transport. If you are not set up for this, keep your injection franchise to room temperature products at first.
Check how vials and ampoules are packed for transit. Moulded trays, partitions and sturdy shipper boxes reduce breakage. Open and count each lot on arrival and report any damage the same day.
Post your injectable requirement
Use the free requirement form on this page. Write the injectable products or categories you need (for example, "dry powder antibiotic vials, PPI and ondansetron injections for nursing homes"), your district, your expected first order value and when you want to start. Mention if you need cold chain products. Your number stays private. The requirement reaches only companies offering injectables in your range and area, and they call you back.
