Gynaecology is one of the few therapies where the same doctor can prescribe your products to the same woman at several points in her life. First while she is trying to conceive, then through pregnancy, again while she is breastfeeding, and years later around menopause. A gynae PCD franchise that has products for each of these stages keeps you on the doctor's prescription pad, instead of supplying one or two items she writes now and then.
That also means the range needs proper planning. A company with fifteen iron and calcium brands but nothing for PCOD or lactation is not really a gynae company. It is a supplement company with a pink visual aid.
Build the range around patient stages
The easiest way to plan a gynae bag is to follow the patient, not the molecule list. Each stage has its own set of regular prescriptions.
- Planning pregnancy: folic acid, preconception multivitamins and myo-inositol combinations that doctors use for ovulation support.
- Pregnancy: iron (ferrous ascorbate, carbonyl iron), calcium with vitamin D3, DHA, progesterone preparations and anti-emetics for morning sickness.
- Lactation: calcium, protein powders and lactation supplements. Many of these are sold under FSSAI rules, so their labels cannot carry drug-type claims.
- PCOD and menstrual problems: myo-inositol with D-chiro-inositol, metformin, and tranexamic acid or mefenamic acid for heavy or painful periods.
- Menopause: calcium, vitamin D3 and bone-support combinations that doctors start in this age group.
Add a few infection products, such as antifungal and antibacterial vaginal tablets and an intimate wash, and you cover most of what comes up in a routine gynae OPD.
Gynaecologists, nursing homes and the second layer
Your main prescribers are gynaecologists in private practice and the maternity nursing homes where they deliver and operate. In many towns the nursing home runs its own pharmacy, and that pharmacy decides which brand of iron or calcium goes into the discharge bag. So meet the owner or whoever handles purchase, not only the doctor. A brand already on the in-house shelf gets written far more easily.
The second layer is lady doctors with small OPDs and MBBS doctors who handle antenatal cases in smaller towns and villages. They write fewer items but buy steadily. Iron and calcium move in volume across all of them. Progesterone and PCOD products sell fewer strips but carry more value per prescription, so a good first order has both.
How to judge a gynae company's portfolio depth
Before you sign any gynae PCD franchise deal, take the company's product list and tick it against the five stages above. Count how many stages it covers properly, with more than one option where doctors expect a choice. Two or three iron formulations and two calcium salts is normal. One of each is thin.
Look for progesterone in more than one form, since gynaecologists use tablets, soft gelatin capsules and injections in different situations. Check that PCOD products are real combinations at doses doctors recognise, not just a multivitamin with inositol added. Ask what the company plans to launch in the coming year. Gynaecologists like to try newer combinations, and a company that has launched nothing in two years will find it hard to hold their interest.
Then compare the commercial side: PTR, MRP and margin on high-volume items like iron and calcium, where chemists are price sensitive; the minimum first order; monopoly area for your district; sample support; dispatch time; and the expiry return terms. Open each company profile to see its full product list, and look for the licence-checked badge.
Get offers through this page
Use the state and city filters above to see gynae PCD franchise companies near you and compare their lists. To save time, fill in the requirement form on this page. Mention the stages or products you want to cover, your district, the first order you expect to place and when you want to start. It costs nothing, your number stays private, and only companies that match your range and area receive it and call you back.
